TODAY is the deadline to file evidence

The Board of Review did something new this year.  If you filed an assessment appeal form by the deadline of September 19th, you had additional time submit any and all evidence that supports your requested reduction.

Wednesday, October 19

Deadline to submit evidence if you requested a reduction of LESS THAN $100,000 assessed value ($300,000 fair market value).

Friday, November 18

Deadline to submit evidence if you requested a reduction of MORE THAN $100,000 assessed value ($300,000 fair market value).

I filed an appeal. What Next?

If you filed an appeal, expect to receive, in the mail, a Preliminary Decision by the Board of Review.  Due to the volume of appeals this year, do not be suprised if you are still waiting to hear from the Board even in December or after the New Year.

Once you receive the Preliminary Decision, if you are satisfied with the Board's decision, you do not need to do anything further.  Your 2011 tax bill (paybel in 2012) will be based on the Board's decision.

If you feel the Board's action did not lower your value enough, you will have 10 days from the date of the letter to request a hearing.

Once the hearing date is scheduled, you can submit additional evidence that you believe will demonstrate to the Board why a greater reduction is fair and just.
